About the Department
  • Establishment

    The Department of English Language and Literature was established in 2010 with the establishment of the University of Bilad Alrafdain The main goal that the department seeks to achieve is to graduate students who are properly qualified to serve the Iraqi society and meet its practical needs and serve the labor market. The department has always sought to develop the student's linguistic skills, critical thinking and analytical abilities, consider contemporary issues and respect cultural and social diversity among people. All these goals are achieved by providing students with the knowledge and skills required in the field of specialization, while ensuring the continuous development of the student's aesthetic taste, creative abilities and independent thinking.

    The Department of English and Literature seeks to develop linguistic, literary, cultural and artistic concepts by providing students with cognitive and practical experiences from a comprehensive cultural common perspective.

    Message

    Preparing individuals with cultural awareness and high competencies in the English language, English linguistics and English literature.

    Developing the student's cultural sense and introducing him to different theoretical concepts and literary styles by studying a wide range of diverse texts.

    Awareness of the student about the diversity of the linguistic system through the study and standardized practice of the language.

    Preparing the student to continue graduate studies in linguistics, literature and translation.
