About the Department
  • The Establishment of the College of Nursing – University of Bilad Al-Rafidain

    The College of Nursing at the University of Bilad Al-Rafidain was established in the academic year 2018–2019 with the aim of preparing nursing professionals with high scientific and practical competence. The college strives to keep pace with technological and scientific advancements, meeting the growing need for preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative nursing services. These efforts contribute to enhancing public health and maintaining an adequate level of well-being for individuals, families, and communities through the use of the latest tools and techniques.

    Since its inception, the college has made confident strides toward achieving its objectives by developing advanced educational programs, organizing outstanding scientific activities, and providing the necessary resources to graduate students who are academically and practically qualified, holding a bachelor's degree, and meeting the needs of health and educational institutions.

    The college has placed special emphasis on elevating the nursing profession from the very beginning, introducing significant changes to teaching methods, organizing continuing education programs, and fostering collaboration and coordination with beneficiary entities and local and international organizations. Furthermore, the college has expanded cultural exchange opportunities with Arab universities by sending faculty members to exchange expertise, participate in scientific conferences, and conduct research that enriches the nursing field.

    The College of Nursing at the University of Bilad Al-Rafidain aspires to be a leading center for scientific excellence and progress in nursing. It aims to integrate with the healthcare services provided to society in alignment with the university's vision. The college seeks to achieve leadership among nursing colleges in Iraqi universities, distinguish itself among Arab universities, and compete globally by offering high-quality education and advanced scientific research.

    Mission

    The College of Nursing is committed to preparing scientifically qualified nursing professionals capable of working in both the public and private sectors. These professionals are equipped to provide comprehensive nursing care, including preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative services, to individuals, families, and communities. This is achieved through academic programs aligned with the university’s mission to develop graduates who can take responsibility for building and advancing Iraqi society.

    Goals

    The college aims to achieve its vision through the following objectives:

    1.      Enhancing students' ability to adopt critical and analytical thinking.

    2.      Empowering students to embrace self-learning and problem-solving approaches.

    3.      Developing students’ skills in applying scientific methods to deliver nursing care.

    4.      Fostering leadership qualities in students to support effective decision-making.

    5.      Strengthening students' understanding of professional ethics and behavior.

    6.      Expanding students' awareness of job descriptions and analysis.

    7.      Equipping students with the knowledge and application of nursing theories and principles in care provision and management.

    8.      Guiding students to conduct applied scientific research related to nursing care.

Graduate Description
  • Duties of Graduates

    • Collecting patient medical history and analyzing symptoms.
    • Administering medications and treatments.
    • Developing patient care plans.
    • Monitoring patients and recording observations.
    • Collaborating with doctors and other healthcare professionals.
    • Operating and monitoring medical equipment and preparing tools.
    • Performing diagnostics and analyzing results.
    • Educating patients and their families on managing diseases or injuries.
    • Providing guidance on post-treatment care at home.

    Employment Opportunities for Graduates
